GrandMarc Internet Addendum and Terms Of Service:

Welcome to the Grandmarc Internet service. In order to improve overall system performance we are now requiring all users to register their machines for use on the system. Please review the policy statement below and complete the form at the bottom of this page. By submitting this information, you are agreeing to abide by the policy below.

  1. General Computer Use:
    1. Residents must have current anti-virus software installed on all machines connected to the network. Failure to comply with this will result in immediate disconnection from the network.
    2. All students must complete the Student Internet Registration System (SIRS) before accessing the Internet via the GrandMarc network. This will consist of filling out a web-based form including name, room number, contact phone number, and email address. All information gathered will be considered to be the property of GrandMarc, and will be stored in a database by OneNet USA. This information will be considered to be private and will not be given to third parties. This information will be used only for the purpose of contacting residents if there is a problem with their PC that represents a threat to the network, informing students of upcoming network changes, and occasional notifications of GrandMarc events. If a student fails to provide correct information, they waive their right to be contacted before being disconnected from the network.
    3. E-mail spamming and other forms of abuse are not allowed or tolerated at the GrandMarc.
    4. Do not tamper with other systems, files, passwords, or accounts. No hacking/cracking into other systems for any purpose.
    5. Attempting to circumvent data protection schemes or uncover security loopholes is prohibited within the OneNet USA network or other networks connected to OneNet USA. This included but not limited to, port scanning, packet sniffing, and others. Respect the privacy of others.
    6. Do not perform operations that are designed to limit network service or that if another user's system.
    7. Unauthorized distribution and reproduction of any U.S. copyright law protected material, including software, video and audio, is prohibited. (This includes but not limited to MP3's, Feature Films, Etc.)
    8. GrandMarc Housing Services/OneNet USA reserves the right to immediately suspend network access privileges if a user and or user's machine is operating in a manner that violates acceptable use policies. Student will be notified upon disconnection if they have provided accurate contact information during the Student Internet Registration Process. Connection may not be reinstated until investigation is complete and/or determination is made that reconnection would not jeopardize network integrity. Permanent suspension may apply as part of the disciplinary sanction.
  2. Business Center Behavior
    1. Business center is to be used only by residents living at the GrandMarc.
    2. Residents are responsible for properly using the provided equipment, and for properly reporting any mechanical failures.
    3. Residents are to respect the rights and needs of others using the facility and behave in a manner conducive to studying. Any damage to the computer equipment or facilities will be assessed to the responsible residents through his or her account.
    4. No food or drink is allowed in the business center.
    5. Academic work takes priority over non-academic work.
    6. You may not install any hardware or software on the business center computers.
    7. Viewing of obscene material in the labs is not permitted.
    8. Other polices as posted in the business center are included in this addendum.
  3. In Room Connection Behavior
    1. Excessive bandwidth usage is not permitted. Port usage may not exceed the following guidelines:
      • Using more than 3% of the total weekly aggregate bandwidth at any time
      • Uploading more than twice what is downloaded
      • Violations of these aggregate bandwidth limits may result in temporary disconnection from the internal network. Repetitive bandwidth violations will result in additional disciplinary action.
    2. You may not use your in room Ethernet connection for any commercial use.
    3. All machines on the GrandMarc network must use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol); failure to use DHCP will result in immediate disconnection. Resident must use the IP address supplied by OneNet USA. Static or manual IP addressed are prohibited.
